Resources for Developing your Research Skills
University Libraries
The University Libraries provide a host of in-person and virtual resources:

Digital Scholarship Center: Data & Digital Scholarship Services (DDSS) partners with students, faculty, and staff by providing research support to facilitate data-focused research and teaching across the university in all disciplines.

Printing Arts Lab (PAL): offers research poster printing services, design instruction, and two PC workstations for in-lab use.

Research Development Academy: These workshops are tailored to enhance your research management and data skills. Sessions will focus on using Zotero for citation management, understanding how to use data in your work, and the process for completing and submitting your dissertation. Students who complete three workshops in this series may be eligible to receive conference funding via the Graduate Division's Travel Research Incentive Program.

Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA)
The Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA) carefully curates and provides resources related to research ethics and research requirements:

Guidance on Human Subjects in Research, including required Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval processes.

Guidance on authorship guidelines for publications and intellectual work.

Confidential reporting mechanisms to report any research related problems or concerns.
Research Development Services
The Research Development Services (RDS) offices provide many services and resources to both faculty and graduate students designing external grant proposals:

Graduate Research Funding

The financial support section of the Graduate Education website provides information on Grants, Fellowships, Awards, and Conference Travel funding.

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) supports external funding for research by providing pre-award guidance on proposal submissions and budget development. The office also provides post-award contract review and coordination of funding disbursement. Some graduate-level grant and fellowship applications must be submitted and/or disbursed through OSP.

The Office of Graduate Fellowships provides guidance in determining if your proposal requires OSP processing either pre- or post-award.
Graduate Research Opportunities

Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE): housed in the School of Business, CIE supports students across programs and schools at Mason in their entrepreneurial endeavors and interests. Launch a business with their Patriot Pitch Competition or imagine solutions to industry problems in their Student Design challenge!
